Engineering Toolbox/Liquid Meter Factor

Metering

Liquid Meter Factor

Calculate a meter factor from a prover or master-meter reference volume and the line-meter indicated volume, or apply an established factor to an indicated volume.

Meter-factor calculation

Use volumes on the same defined measurement basis.

Measurement use

Separate proving from correction.

The factor is meaningful only when the prover/reference and meter volumes are compared on the required common basis. This tool does not invent temperature or pressure corrections.

Calculation basis

MF = reference/prover volume ÷ meter indicated volume
Corrected volume = indicated volume × MF

For proving work, the compared volumes must already be corrected to the same applicable base/operating basis required by the procedure.

This is not a composite-meter-factor, CTL, CPL, gross-standard-volume or net-standard-volume calculator. Follow the approved proving procedure and applicable API MPMS/OEM requirements for custody or allocation measurement.
