This Website Privacy Policy explains how AccessRA handles information when you use accessra.com and its website services. AccessRA now includes Engineering Knowledge, engineering calculators and field tools, AccessRA Academy, interactive simulations and practicals, CAD and engineering resources, engineering work/project pages, global search, contact/support routes and account-based learning features.
This policy applies to the AccessRA website. The AccessRA Field Handbook Android app has a separate app privacy policy and app data-deletion guidance.
1. Information you provide
The information AccessRA receives depends on which website features you use.
- Account information: information used to create, secure and operate an AccessRA/Academy account, such as your account identifier and contact details.
- Academy and training activity: course enrolment, lesson progress, knowledge-check or assessment attempts, module practical attempts, Gauge Test Lab attempts and related learning activity needed to let you continue from where you stopped.
- Academy community content: discussion posts, replies, votes or other content you choose to submit where those features are available.
- Contact and support enquiries: your name, organisation, email address, optional phone number, enquiry category, subject and message when you contact AccessRA.
- Technical or media material: files, images, comments or other material you deliberately submit through a feature that allows submission or upload.
Do not submit confidential client, site, operational or personal information that you are not authorised to disclose.
2. Information generated when you use the website
AccessRA may process ordinary technical information needed to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the website, including IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, timestamps, response status and similar server/security logs.
Search terms, page interactions and tool usage may also be processed to return requested results and to understand which AccessRA content and utilities are useful.
3. Google Analytics and website measurement
AccessRA currently uses Google Analytics to measure website usage and improve navigation, technical content, tools and training. Google Analytics may receive browser/device information and information about visits and interactions in accordance with Google's own terms and privacy practices.
Analytics information is used for website measurement and improvement; it is not used by AccessRA to determine Academy assessment results or learner competency.
4. Cookies, sessions and local browser storage
AccessRA uses cookies and/or browser storage for functions such as authentication and session security, CSRF/security controls, interface preferences, Academy navigation state and other features that need to remember a choice on the device.
For example, AccessRA may store a sidebar or course-navigation preference in local browser storage so the interface remains consistent between page visits. Disabling essential cookies can prevent sign-in or account-based training features from working correctly.
5. Engineering Knowledge, tools and interactive practicals
Most public Engineering Knowledge articles, calculators and reference pages can be used without creating an Academy account. Inputs entered into a calculator are processed to produce the requested result. AccessRA does not treat calculator output as a substitute for an applicable engineering procedure, manufacturer instruction, calibration standard or competent technical judgement.
Interactive article practicals and simulations may process the selections you make in the browser to demonstrate a technical principle. Where a practical is explicitly marked as an article practice, it may operate without creating an Academy training record. Academy practicals and Gauge Test Lab attempts may be recorded when the feature is designed to save learner progress.
6. Academy accounts, progress and practical records
For signed-in learners, AccessRA may retain enrolment status, lesson completion, knowledge-check results, practical-assessment attempts, Gauge Test Lab attempts and related course activity. This information is used to provide the learning service, preserve progress and support course/assessment functionality.
Academy progress and assessment records are not sold to advertisers and are not used by AccessRA to determine advertising content.
7. Contact, support and communications
When you contact AccessRA, the information in your enquiry is used to review and respond to the request, route it to the relevant technical or support area, maintain an appropriate support record and protect the service from abuse.
AccessRA may send transactional or service communications related to an account, enquiry, training activity or service you requested. Marketing communications, if introduced, should provide an appropriate choice or opt-out mechanism.
8. Files, CAD resources and external technical content
AccessRA may provide downloadable CAD files, technical references, engineering evidence, images, reports or links to external technical sources. Requests for these resources may be reflected in ordinary server or analytics logs.
AccessRA pages may also link to or embed third-party services such as manufacturer resources, Google services or video platforms. Those third parties process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
9. Advertising and Google AdSense
At the date of this policy, Google AdSense advertising is not enabled on AccessRA. AccessRA has technical hooks that may allow advertising to be enabled later if the site is approved and the required privacy/consent controls are in place.
If Google AdSense or another approved advertising service is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure and protect ads. Google's use of advertising cookies can allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on a user's visit to AccessRA and/or other websites.
Users can manage Google advertising personalisation through Google Ads Settings. If other third-party advertising vendors or networks are introduced, this policy will be updated where appropriate.
For traffic where consent is required, AccessRA will configure the applicable consent mechanism before enabling advertising that requires that consent. For personalised Google advertising in the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland, AccessRA intends to use a Google-certified consent management platform where required by Google's publisher policies.
10. How AccessRA uses information
- to deliver and secure accessra.com and its services;
- to authenticate users and protect accounts;
- to save Academy progress and training records where the product requires it;
- to calculate requested engineering/tool results and operate interactive features;
- to respond to enquiries and provide support;
- to understand website performance and improve content, navigation and usability;
- to investigate errors, fraud, abuse or security incidents; and
- to meet applicable legal, regulatory or recordkeeping obligations.
11. Sharing and service providers
AccessRA does not sell personal information to advertisers.
Information may be processed by service providers that help operate AccessRA, such as web hosting/infrastructure, email delivery, analytics, security, storage or other technical services. Where a payment-enabled service is introduced, an external payment provider may process transaction information under that provider's own privacy terms. AccessRA may also disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, AccessRA or the security of the service.
12. International processing
Some service providers used by AccessRA may process information in countries other than the country from which you access the website. Where applicable, AccessRA relies on the provider's contractual, security and privacy safeguards and on applicable legal requirements for such processing.
13. Retention
AccessRA retains information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including account operation, Academy progress, support, security, technical records and applicable legal obligations.
Different categories of data may have different retention periods. AccessRA does not promise a universal 30-day deletion period. A deletion request may be subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup or legitimate recordkeeping requirements.
14. Security
AccessRA uses reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information and restrict unauthorised access. No internet service, transmission method or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
15. Your choices and requests
Depending on applicable law and the information involved, you may request access, correction or deletion of personal information under AccessRA's control. AccessRA may need to verify a request before acting on it and may retain information where required for legal, security or legitimate recordkeeping purposes.
You can also control many cookies and browser-storage features through your browser. Google provides separate controls for its advertising and account services.
16. Children
AccessRA is designed for engineering, instrumentation, technical training and industrial field work. The website and Academy are not directed to children.
17. Changes to this policy
AccessRA may update this policy as the platform changes, including changes to Knowledge, tools, Academy functionality, analytics, advertising, service providers or legal requirements. The version and last-updated date shown on this page identify the current website policy.
